Microsoft says it certain that a similar service, available to 57 million people already equipped with the console (35 million of which are already connected to Xbox Live), can only reveal explosive potential. If you want to play, just say it. It means to watch your favorite TV show, just say it. Do you want to search for a night movie? Just say it. The number of project partners is increasing, thus putting the Xbox 360 the center of an ecosystem in which the content can search using just your voice.
To this is added a further aspect: Free Xbox Companion mobile application, available for all Windows Phone on the market, becomes a displacement of its portable console from which to choose their own content or keep track of the last deeds, purchase and start watching a movie. The smartphone thus becomes an extension of the television experience, enriching it with meaning and utility.
Some say that the Syrians will be the added value of what could be the Apple TV coming in 2012. If it is, thanks to Kinect Microsoft as it will continue its position of advantage by providing the same technology in advance through an addendum hardware and low cost. Bill Gates gloats that set-top box that he had always wanted, is now in the hands of his group. It is not just a movie container: it is the main road to a new medium, and is the mediator between the screen and the user interface to hide that disappears within a natural interaction.
