The CES 2012 is closed, edition of the smart TV, the new LTE smartphone, the tablet that will challenge the iPad and the onset of the U.S. Windows Phone.
Down the curtain, the CES 2012 has closed. The news these days have flowed since returned a clear idea of what the sector offers for the future: intelligent and connected TVs, smartphones increasingly central to everyday life, in search of an identity tablet and a multiplication of hybrid solutions looking for new concepts on which cut new market niches.
The year of the Ultrabook also: born under the suspicion of a mere copy of the ultra-thin Apple, the new devices appear to be seeking its own identity and in the future could stand as a form factor standard for mobile computing. The multiplication of offers is what more than anything else forces to look with a positive offer: there are many who believe it and if the price will meet the favor of the customer then it can open up new perspectives and raise the sector’s prospects.
Winners: Nokia and Android
Nokia, first: offer Lumia 900 seems to have convinced at least deserved a chance. When the device reach the stores in the U.S., will be welcomed by a red carpet made of awards and good reviews, a favorable approach that so far neither Nokia nor Windows Phone had ever attracted.
Android also: the multiplication of devices presented at CES 2012 makes it clear that the operating system in Mountain View is now generally appreciated for its many capabilities, for its versatility and adaptability of a high range of devices.
Won: RIM and Microsoft
Research In Motion clearly comes out with head down: and had offered to bring forward the time was not right and the CES, despite a strong commitment at the level of presence, leave no trace in the history of the group.
Microsoft has not amazed with Kinect and did not want to bring another event in Las Vegas. But it was a defeat calculated: the group had already announced that it would be the last time for Ballmer in Las Vegas and has acted accordingly. Simply put, the rhythms of the fair does not fit the rhythms of the new Microsoft products and the choice was therefore to change strategy and greet the CES closing a twenty-year relationship here that has written the history of the both group of the event. Windows 8, Skype and other bigwigs, therefore, have not seen: all the result of a deliberate strategy in which the CES remains to be sacrificed.
Not received
Apple, of course, Cupertino will speak to their audience in the coming weeks, in another location and dedicated event. Windows 8, also: the operating system so the terminus at CES, but that was not the occasion to record, and the operating system will come on the market until the second half of the year and it is only from the next beta which will begin to be felt strongly. Skype, since the Windows Phone, the absent was excellent, in closing, however, made out to be close to new ads, which simply throws at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona with each additional ad.
What said on the CES
The CES has told an industry once again in great ferment. Yeast, however, that now seems to have no clear guidelines on which to vent their impetuosity: the multiplication of offers on the tablet is almost obsessive, but the feeling is that no one has yet really found the recipe to tickle on the domain of iPad; in the smartphone market with series Lumia is the only true big news and is the only real hope of seeing the duopoly affected on iOS/Android today.
The CES has said mostly of users with the increasingly connected, based on applications and LTE connectivity to bring smartphones increasingly at the centre of daily life. This event comes after a veritable binge of ads, many of which underestimated since crushed by the frenetic pace of the days of the exhibition. The word now passes to the market, where the decisions will come in the months to come to blows.
